Mike Shull, longtime owner of Shull’s Hardware and proud son of Jack Shull, faithfully
carried on his father’s legacy of service to the Johnstown community. From the time he took
over the family business in the 1980s until its sale in 2020, Mike was a steadfast supporter
of the Johnstown Youth League and the neighboring Northridge School District. His
generosity, leadership, and passion for giving back were constants throughout his life.
A 1970 graduate of Johnstown High School and a proud member of the 1970 Johnnies
Football Championship team, Mike's dedication to his hometown extended far beyond the
football field. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Johnstown from the early 1970s
through the early 1990s, after which he continued his service as a member and trustee of
the Johnstown Fire Department Association.
Mike played a central role in organizing and supporting the Johnstown Fireman’s Festival for
an impressive 45 years, from 1975 through 2020. His contributions were instrumental in
making the festival a beloved community tradition.
Mike Shull’s life was defined by commitment—to family, to service, and to the people of
Johnstown. His legacy continues to inspire those who knew him and those who benefit
from the countless ways he gave back.
